TRIC Mini Enduro Proposal |
|
July 11th 2007 By Ralph White
I was taught a long time ago not to complain about a problem unless I had a solution for that problem. My complaint is that there are not enough Mini Races in the TSCEC. If we, the members of the TSCEC, are gong to keep Enduro racing alive in the state of Texas, we need to provide the kids Mini Races. Kids are the future of our sport.
There are many issues to contend with when putting on a mini Enduro. However, it all boils down to money, and people.
Problem #1 – Money: Clubs need money for insurance, and the ambulance for the Saturday mini races.
Problem #2 – People: Clubs do not have the man-power to support a Saturday Mini Race. Most of the club members are concentrating on the Sunday main event.
Solution to problem #1 - Money: Charge the kids enough to pay for the Mini Race. (say $20.00) Charge the Sunday riders a little more to help support the kids (say $5.00). I feel that the majority of the TSCEC membership are willing to give up a little extra money to support their kids. This circuit is jam-packed with great people. These people grew up racing the Mini races on Saturday and I feel they would support future Saturday Mini Races.
Solution to problem #2 - People: I’m the President of the Trail Riders in Christ (TRIC) Motorcycle Club. Our club is willing to step up and provide the men and women power on Saturdays to support the kids. We will arrive early enough to run Sign-Up, check out the course, and supervise the Race. All we ask of the promoting club is to lay out and mark a kids course in accordance with the TSCEC rule book. Provide us with a point of contact to show us the course and we will do the rest.
I’m looking for your input. Is this important? Are you willing to support it? Will the TSCEC clubs support it? What can we do to insure our kids have an Enduro Circuit in their future?
I will be pitching this proposal in the TSCEC Summer Planning Meeting.
We already have the support of Brian Storrie from SMS Racing.
Are there any other shop owners willing to step up and support our kids? Is there anybody else out there willing to help? Please email me at ralphwhite2@tx.rr.com with your suggestions.
We may lure in some cross-country racers with the No-Time keeping format system that seems to be coming in the future. But what about our kids? I feel we will lose families to other racing venues because they cater to the kids. How many families are going to continue to drive more than two hours to an Enduro where their kids don’t get to ride?
Kids are the future of our sport. We need your support to ensure the TSCEC continues in the future.
I will also be pitching a Saturday Women’s Race. It will be held at the same time as the Mini on the same course. This women’s class will be a spring-board to train women and give them confidence to compete in the Sunday Enduros. They will compete for trophies but will not be eligible for End of The Year awards. After all, we are catering to the kids.
Guys, this I your chance to pit for your lady who has been pitting for you all these years!
I feel these changes will help increase attendance of Enduros and keep the TSCEC going strong into the future.
